About Harry T. Hackney
Harry Hackney was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He graduated from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He then attended the Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida where he earned the J.D. degree, with honors, in 1986. He was admitted to the Florida Bar later that same year. In 1990, he moved from South Florida to Leesburg, Florida. He opened Harry Thomas Hackney, P.A. in February 1997 after practicing with firms in Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Leesburg. His goal is to offer his clients high quality, personalized service using the latest in technology. For the first eleven (11) years of his practice, he practiced general civil litigation representing many individuals and businesses in Florida state trial and appellate courts. After opening his own practice, Mr. Hackney chose to concentrate on cases involving real property litigation, business and commercial law, and trusts, estates, and probate. At the same time, he expanded his practice to include transactions and drafting documents in these areas. Mr. Hackney has taken courses in financial planning and has completed the course work necessary to sit for the certified financial planner exam. Mr. Hackney belongs to the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law section of the Florida Bar, and the Lake County Bar Association. He has served as the president of the Lake County Bar Association. He is a Past Distinguished President of the Leesburg Noon Kiwanis and has served on various committees of Morrison United Methodist Church. He is on the Board of Directors of the Golden Triangle YMCA and served as the Scholarship Fundraising Chairman in 2004. Mr. Hackney was in the 2005 Class of Leadership Lake County. He has been the president of the Lifestreams Foundation Board of Directors for the years 2006 and 2007. Tasha M. Matheson was born in Washington D.C. and raised in Apopka, Florida. She graduated from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy in 1999. She moved to New York, New York where she worked for several years before attending Brooklyn Law School. She graduated from law school in 2005 and returned to Central Florida to practice law. She began her career with Harry Thomas Hackney, P.A. that year as a law clerk. She was sworn into the Florida Bar in 2006 and then began working as an associate. She is a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Mount Dora. In her spare time, she enjoys running, yoga, and swimming.
